ANNOUNCING A NEW ACQUISITION: Txomin Etxaniz Txakoli
at TSA we’re continually at work behind the scenes researching new projects; new aspects of the Iberian grog scene. We have not ‘done it all’ as yet, and have been very deliberate in not trying to do it all at once. We’re genuinely committed to researching deeply and carefully so that we can truthfully present our wines as the best of their type, not just ‘some product we have found’. We taste hundreds (and hundreds) of wines a year, in Spain and in the office, attempting to find genuine gems, real wines that tell the best stories possible of type and place. Of late, a few such have indeed been found …

INTRODUCING A NEW ACQUISITION: Ron Ingenio Manacas Extra Añejo from Sanchez Romate
We are delighted to admit a new fellow to the TSA graduate program. Our latest acquisition is a Caribbean Rum brought to us by esteemed sherry house, Sanchez Romate.
Meet “Ron Ingenio Manacas Extra Añejo” (‘Ron’ being latin for Rum, not some mustachioed 70s relic), a premium sippin’, mixin’, cocktailin’ blend of Caribbean rums. Caribbean Rum from Jerez?? Curious, eh? It’s a blend of rums from Dominica, Venezuela and Panama, aged for 5 years in the Caribbean in bourbon oak, then a further 3 years in Jerez in used Romate Amontillado and Oloroso Sherry butts.

INTRODUCING OUR NEW CAVA PRODUCER: Torreblanca Cava
For some time we have wanted to introduce a new Cava brand to our portfolio. Exhaustively, we have tasted every available sub-premium-priced Cava in the Spanish market. In 3 separate full D.O. tastings here and another in situ in Penedes, the Cavas from Torreblanca have topped the tasting each time; and each time with an identical tasting note! A wine with real identity, consistency, great value and delicious … we believe this very much fits the bill, and have now added Torreblanca to our list (having first spent the past 6 months helping develop new labels and packaging, so they look as smart as they taste).

NEW RELEASE: 2009 Telmo Rodriguez 'Mountain Blanco' Dry Moscatel
In the late 90s Telmo and Pablo went into the schist-soiled mountains above Malaga and regenerated some old mountain bush-vines of Moscatel. Since then, they have been making MR
and Molino Real from gently dried Mountain Moscatel, but for some time have sought to extend their Malaga activity. A new winery has been built, and—ta-da!—a new dry Moscatel is born.

NEW VINTAGE RELEASE: 2009 Telmo Rodriguez 'El Transistor' Verdejo
Rueda is a special region, renowned for whites – reds and pinks are made but are de-classified as Tierras de Castille y Leon; DO Rueda is reserved for whites alone. These are based on the local variety, Verdejo. For years, Telmo has been talking about wanting to push further with Rueda; experiments ensued, and from 2008 a new wine, sort of a ‘Super Rueda’, was born – El Transistor. The 2009 has now been released and we think it's a ripper!

NEW RELEASE: 2005 Primitivo Quiles 'Raspay' Monastrell
The Primitivo Quiles 'Raspay' is not a typically TSA wine, being very definitely in the rustic old-school oxidatively-handled register – a part of the wine world we are not normally very fond of. There are always exceptions, however, and we think this wine really holds up and has something to say through the rusticity, and it complements and rounds out our Monastrell list nicely.
