Castro Martin 'Casal Caeiro' Aguardiente

Marc de Galicia or Aguardiente is the spirit produced by distilling the fermented marc of Galician-grown grapes, effectively making it a by-product of the local wine industry. The spirit has been produced in Galica for generations and its use as a beverage and as a 'medicinal' remedy is fully integrated into local culture.

Bodegas Castro Martín, makers of the eponymous Albariño, has been producing Aguardiente since 1982 and as true Galicians, have maintained a limited production ever since.

Hierbas is made by distilling fresh Galician herbs with the skins of the Albariño grape. The resulting blend has a complex aroma of herbs fused with wild fruits and flowers, typical of the grape variety from which they originate. It is long, smooth and fruity on the palate, with a little residual sweetness on the finish.
